Quadco’s leadership and vision noted in CARF accreditation
Noting the leadership and vision of the organization, CARF International has informed Quadco officials that the center has received a three-year accreditation for: Employment Services: Organizational Employment Services. The accreditation extends through June 2012. This accreditation decision following a survey of its programs and facilities in June of this year represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. The independent accrediting body notes that an organization such as Quadco receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to the surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable. In its survey summary, the strength of Quadco’s leadership was noted. “In particular, the executive director is highly complimented for creating a strong vision for the organization and developing opportunities and business lines that not only strengthen the organization financially, but also provide meaningful opportunities for persons served.” The center’s three-year strategic plan was noted for its vision for the future, something the surveyors felt distinguishes Quadco from other organizations providing the same services. The surveyors noted the strength of the staff, saying that “Quadco has conscientious, dedicated, and enthusiastic staff members at all levels. Staff members clearly focus on the needs of the individuals served. Of note are the caliber, commitment, and achievement of professional staff members who provide direct support. It was most apparent from site visits that long and positive relationships between staff members and individuals served contribute to the development of their self-esteem, independence and confidence.” Quadco’s board of directors were also highly commended for their active support and promotion of the mission and values of the organization. Quadco received commendations for its unique business enterprises, such as expanding its SUBWAY restaurant to include the Mama DeLuca’s pizza franchise and the development of the Brush Creek Candle line. These endeavors have “expanded meaningful work opportunities for persons served.” Maintaining the ISO certification at both the Stryker and Archbold locations was cited, which the summary says given the center “a very positive reputation for providing quality work.” The surveyors praised the opening of the Defiance Center in response to consumer needs and requests with a location that offers ample opportunities for community access. Communication to the persons served and the surrounding community were noted, including the monthly Q-Municator newsletter and the calendars of activities. The maintenance of the facilities at the Stryker location and the availability of industrial-grade equipment and tools in the center’s production facilities were also singled out in the report. CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services. For many years of its 40 years of operation, Quadco has been surveyed by the accreditation organization and has always achieved a Three-Year Accreditation award.
