The Defiance Center
Quadco’s Defiance Center provides a planned, interesting program during each day. In a cheery, cozy center on East Second Street in the Kroger Plaza, participants enjoy learning a variety of things from cooking good dishes to honing daily living skills. There are interesting speakers who stop in and participants go on field trips around the area that expand their world. Trips have been made to the Butterfly House in Whitehouse, the Ft. Wayne Zoo, the Lincoln Museum in Ft. Wayne, an area apple orchard and more. Often before or after a trip, participants will review the things they see and make keepsakes that remind them of the visit. Creative activities are included in the schedule each month that often revolve around the season or special events. They are often found in the community, whether they visit the library for some books or to find out about some of the local history, stopping a the shops around town or mixing with the players on The Defiance College soccer teams. Like their counterparts in other Quadco programs, participants at the Defiance Center also find work opportunities available and get to work at least two hours a day as long as there is work to go around.
